Rachel Garlin is a singer-songwriter whose character-filled songs tell the stories she has collected in her life as a teacher and traveling troubadour. Her four records feature songs noted for vivid, lyrical imagery and themes that are "fresh and often unexpectedly moving." (C. Gerst, East Bay Express)

Based in San Francisco, Rachel performs at venues such as the Bitter End in New York, the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, and the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley where she recorded a live album several years ago. She has worked closely with musicians such as Lisa Zeiler (Rebecca Riots), Julie Wolf (ani difranco band), and Jon Evans (Tori Amos Band) among others. After touring cross-country in a bio-diesel van, Rachel wrote a song called "Alternative Fuel" that was selected for the soundtrack of Fuel , an audience choice winner at the Sundance Film Festival. Her songs have aired on Click and Clack's Car Talk, Amy Goodman's Democracy Now!, and college and community radio stations throughout the country.

While living in New York, Rachel recorded an album with producer Ben Wisch, and was named a top-12 finalist in the New York Songwriter Circle's Song Contest. Her song "Wartime Gig" was recognized in the Telluride Troubadour Contest in Colorado and her performance of "Tom's Song" earned her first prize in the Apple and Eve Talent Search at the Newport Folk Festival.

Currently, Rachel lives in the Bay Area with her partner. She is writing songs for her fifth album and teaching music to kids.
